Summer Camp

2008

June really is just around the corner and it is not too soon to sign up for summer camp. Many of the most popular sessions fill up in March.

Summer Camp is much more than swimming, archery, paintball and camp fires. Summer Camp is about making positive relationships with others in a caring atmosphere and focusing on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Since 1919, YMCA Camp Winona has provided the finest in camping services to every person attending our programs. YMCA Camp Winona is set on 60 secluded acres of beautiful pine forest and lies on the shores of spring-fed Lake Winona in West Volusia County Florida. Campers live in rustic, lakefront cabins arranged in clusters according to age and gender.

Calling all Alumni!
   

Did you spend one or more sessions at YMCA Camp Winona? Did you enjoy a weekend retreat, company outing, ropes challenge course experience or an outdoor education school field trip at YMCA Camp Winona? If so you are a Camp Winona Alum and we would love to hear from you!

Camp Winona is trying to find as many alumni as possible as far back as its beginnings in 1919.

Join us for our Alumni Reunion Sunday, May 18th, 2008 from 2 to 5 pm. More details will follow and we will keep you posted, so mark your calendars.

Partners With Youth is a fundraising program that allows kids to go to camp. Last year, individuals raised over $42,000 dollars to help send kids to camp.

The decision-making is hard. Each family requesting a scholarship contacts the office, fills out an application and sends it back. The committee that reviews the applications and assigns scholarship amounts really sees the needs of many families in our community. Each year we helpe send between 100 - 150 kids to camp who would not have been able to attend.

You can give to Partners With Youth by contacting David Larrabee.. Every donation is tax-deductible and goes to a very worthy cause... kids!
